What should I do if my roof is missing shingles?

“At least we’ve got a roof over our heads.” It goes without saying, that your roof is the most important part of your home. What would your home be without it? Consequently, homeowners strive to keep their roof in ship shape, to avoid future costly repairs.

What causes shingle damage?

How old is the roof?

If your roof is approaching or over 15 years of age, don’t be surprised if a contractor quotes replacing the entire roof. A roof is a job that has to get done right the first time. Quick fixes, often lead to more $ dollar’s spent down the road. Frankly, a roof can only deteriorate to a certain point, as to where repairs become ineffective, temporary band aids at best. As a general rule, if a roofer quotes a roof replacement on a 4 yr old roof, you probably want to call another company. But if your roof is over the 10yr mark, take shingle loss / leak damage very seriously.
